and dry brushing. In other words, a little weird.
I’m talking about jade rolling.
Like oil pulling and dry brushing, jade rolling is a technique that has been around for years (in this case, centuries) and is getting renewed attention today.
And if you’re not familiar with oil pulling or dry brushing, read these old posts:
Believe it or not, I go through this tub pretty quickly
Why I dry brush (and why you should too!)
Jade is a semi precious stone that remains cool on contact. A jade roller is a little device that allows you to roll a smooth piece of jade across your face.
According to Ginger Chi, the company that I bought my jade roller from (on Amazon), jade rollers do it all! They claim that it will enhance skin elasticity, refine pores, reduce puffiness, discourage fine lines and wrinkles, improve circulation, aid in elimination of toxins, and improve sinus congestion. Damn!
After hearing all this, of course I had to try one. I’m always looking for new ideas to help me feel happy, healthy and hot.
The jade feels amazing on my skin…smooth and cool. Many reviewers mentioned putting it in the fridge to cool it off even more, especially for puffy eyes. I haven’t tried doing that, but nice to know it’s an option.
My jade roller came with a diagram of a face, to show you how to use it. Apparently the direction that you roll is important. Jade rollers are supposed to help with lymphatic drainage just like dry brushing.
I have tried using it in the morning and evening, and it feels great either way.
In the morning I used it after applying a serum from Annmarie Gianni. (Exciting serum news coming on October 1….check back!)
At night I used it right after cleansing with coconut oil and applying Alpine Pure Oil from Telluride Glow.
I notice a healthy pink flush to my skin every time I use the jade roller, which makes me think it is doing something for my circulation.
And it definitely helps with eye puffiness. Every now and then I will wake up with some puffiness. It is usually in response to something I ate…especially dairy. Using the small end of the jade roller feels great around your eyes, and truly reduces puffiness.
You don’t apply any pressure when using the jade roller...just roll it across your skin. The directions specify when you should be using the large end or the small end, but it’s pretty intuitive.
So far, I’m enjoying the jade roller. I like the pink flush it gives (which makes me think it’s working) and love the way it reduces puffiness.
As far as some of the other claims, I haven’t been using it long enough to see a difference. But I’ll keep you posted. I’m going to continue using it every day…probably in the am.
So can a jade roller help you feel happy, healthy and hot? While it’s not a necessity, it definitely can.
You’ll be happy using something that feels so cool and soothing on your skin. Plus it’s always fun having a new toy! It’s certainly healthy to take some time out to do something for yourself. And having skin with a healthy pink glow (and no puffy eyes) is very hot!

I’ve been using a jade roller for about 3 months, and am so impressed! I put a layer of rosehip oil on my face and neck, then work the roller everywhere. Especially wonderful for getting rid of undereye bags, and working the lymphatic drainage. I’m also undoing the heavy forehead creases I’d developed–this roller has reduced them about 80%,and it has amazed me. I had tried those Frownies, and adhesive patches for overnight, and this alone is going WAY past what those achieved. The remaining oil, I just massage in, and it has become my face moisture of choice. This jade roller type tool is incredible.

Nancy, I am so happy to hear about the results you are having with the jade roller after 3 months. I have not been using it that long but absolutely love it. I don’t really get bags under my eyes, but sometimes wake up with a little all over puffiness, and it works wonders. And I love rosehip oil. I have used it on its own, but now I am using Alpine Pure Oil by Telluride Glow, which has rosehip oil as one of its ingredients. Thanks for checking in!
