This tastes like sunshine…

and gives your skin a healthy glow!

I usually start my mornings with a green drink (either fresh or Organifi) but every now and then I like to mix things up a little bit…with this bright orange drink.

It”s a blend of just three ingredients with a fresh taste and tons of nutrients.  Here’s what I used:

Carrots are what gives this drink the gorgeous color.  I used organic carrots and left the peel on.  Carrots are rich in antioxidants, particularly carotenes.  Studies have shown that carrots may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and some forms of cancer.   A study at the University of Nottingham showed that people who consume more carotenes have a healthier color to their skin.  And those carotenes may  help with wrinkles and photo-aging.  Carrots can even help balance your hormones.  For more details on the benefits of carrots, read this post:

Cheap and easy

I love to throw a whole peeled lemon into my blended drinks.  Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which not only strengthens our immune system, it  brightens the skin.  Vitamin C also supports the production of new collagen.  Flavonoids found in lemons can even stop the division of certain cancer cells.  And lemon also adds a tart, fresh taste.

Fresh ginger spices things up a bit! Fresh ginger contains many potent antioxidants that prevent free radical damage and protect against aging.  Ginger also enhances immune function.

So here’s how I made it:

a one inch chunk of ginger

Cut the carrots into chunks about 2-3 inches long.  No need to peel.  Peel the bitter yellow part off of the lemon, leaving as much of the white as you can.  Cut it in half.  I don’t bother peeling the ginger, although you can if you like.

Put carrots, lemon and ginger in a high powered blender.  Add water to cover the ingredients at least half way, or more depending on how thick you like the drink to be.  I usually cover the the whole thing with water, as I prefer it on the thin side.

Blend, starting on low and gradually increasing.  Blend on high for at least 30 seconds to make sure there are no chunks…depending on your blender it may take longer.

This makes two servings.  You can save one in the fridge for later:)

 

So can this carrot + lemon + ginger drink help you feel happy, healthy and hot?  Absolutely!

You will be happy enjoying a refreshing morning (or afternoon) pick me up.  The three ingredients used are very healthy, and support gorgeous glowing skin as well as enhanced immunity.  Consuming fresh produce in place of processed carbs can help you lose weight.  And with that beautiful skin and body, you’ll be hot for sure!
