A matcha made in heaven…

Vital Proteins Collagen Beauty Greens and matcha.  They are two of my favorite things (well, there’s also coffee, boy bands, black mascara, baby turtles….) so it’s hard to believe I never thought of putting them together in an iced matcha latte…so good and totally amazing for you!

I got this idea on Instagram (another one of my favorite things.)  Vital Proteins posted a gorgeous pic of a matcha latte with Beauty Greens blended in, so of course I had to create my own.  And since it’s July, it had to be iced!

If you’re not familiar with Collagen Beauty Greens and/or matcha, here’s the scoop:

Collagen Beauty Greens from Vital Proteins are the perfect happy, healthy and hot product.  They combine skin supporting ingredients (collagen, organic greens, hyaluronic acid and probiotics) into an easy to mix powder that tastes very mild.  If you’ve been following this blog, you know that I can see and feel an improvement in my skin since adding collagen peptides to my daily diet.  My skin is firmer at 49 than it was at 39.

Here’s what I posted about the Collagen Beauty Greens  a few months ago:

Not cheap, but easy

As far as matcha, well, that’s another happy, healthy and hot approved ingredient. Matcha is a finely powdered green tea.  Since you are consuming the entire leaf, matcha is even higher in antioxidants than traditional green tea.  It contains L-theanine, an amino acid which is said to give a calm, focused energy.  There is still some caffeine, but much less than in coffee.  We’ve been hearing for years how healthy green tea is…matcha is even better!

There are many grades of matcha available.  I ordered some from Thrive Market and it was very reasonable.  It is considered culinary grade matcha, and is meant to be used in cooking, smoothies, etc.  You can buy higher quality matcha including some that is considered ceremonial grade.

When they are mixed up in a latte like this, it really doesn’t matter what kind you use.  The matcha in my amazon store is a little pricier than what I ordered from Thrive…use whatever you like!  (Unless you are having some kind of Japanese tea ceremony, but that is not happening in my world any time soon.)

Here’s my recipe…feel free to adapt it however you like!

1 teaspoon matcha

1 scoop Vital Proteins Collagen Beauty Greens

1 cup milk of your choice…I used unsweetened cashew milk, but any non dairy milk will work.  Or use pastured milk if you tolerate dairy well.

Liquid stevia to taste

I put the cashew milk, matcha and Collagen Beauty Greens in the blender, mixed it all up, then poured over ice.  After that I added the stevia to taste.

Like everything I make, this is extremely flexible.  You could put the ice in the blender as well and blend into a frozen drink.  I tried to skip the blender and just use a small whisk to mix the matcha and Collagen Beauty Greens into the cashew milk, but I found a few lumps.

So, can an iced matcha latte with Collagen Beauty Greens help you feel happy, healthy and hot?  You know it!  You’ll be happy having a refreshing and tasty summer drink!  As far as healthy, this drink is loaded with good stuff…probiotics, collagen protein, antioxidants, and more.  The collagen will help firm your skin, and supports healthy hair and nails.  So of course you’ll be hot!
