because it’s almost summer! Which means wearing less clothing. And that’s great, unless your skin is still dry and flaky from the long winter.
So how can you get your skin ready for summer? It’s easy…
if you hop on the dry brushing bandwagon!
I talked about dry brushing in an early post ( Why I dry brush (and why you should too!) that hardly anyone read. Because I had maybe five readers at the time.
Dry brushing is not just amazing for your lymphatic system, it is great for your skin. It stimulates your circulation, giving your skin a rosy glow, and gets rid of dry flaky skin at the same time. Some claim that it may reduce cellulite. A win-win!
All you need is a good natural bristle brush with a long handle. The one in my amazon shop fits the bill perfectly, and it’s very reasonable. It is the same brush I use every day.
Here’s how I do it…right before shower, I dry brush all over my body. In order to get the lymphatic benefits, you always want to brush towards the heart. So if you’re below your heart, brush up. Above your heart, brush down. Pretty simple.
I start at my feet, and work my way up my legs. Then hands and arms. Even brush your underarms. Then neck, chest, abdomen and back.
The whole thing just takes a few minutes. You should be brushing hard enough to feel it, but not so hard it stings. I love to hop in the shower as soon as I’m done.
When I get out, I slather myself with coconut oil from head to toe. Most of the time, I use the same organic coconut oil that I cook with and blend into my coffee (separate container, of course!!!) Depending on how much you apply, it takes a few minutes to absorb, but it gives your skin a great glow.
If you want to splurge a little (because you are totally worth it!) try the Annmarie Gianni Coconut Body and Face Oil that I just reviewed in my last post. LOVE this stuff!
