I’m pretty much in love with activated charcoal…I’ve been whitening my teeth with it for years now and I’m thrilled with the results.
Activated charcoal is amazing stuff…it acts like a magnet for toxins and impurities. That’s why it’s used for food poisoning.
So I’m surprised it took me long to use it on my skin. Because now that I have, I’m hooked.
I‘m talking about the Charcoal Cleansing Bar and Balancing Facial Mask from Beautycounter.
I’ve heard other natural beauty bloggers raving about these two products for years…so I finally decided I needed to check them out. And I couldn’t be happier.
I had a few breakouts after my Miami trip…think I over did it on the dairy. This dynamic duo helped to clear them up faster without any annoying drying.
The Charcoal Cleansing Bar is basically a badass bar of soap. Something about black soap just looks so cool.
The bar lathers nicely and removes makeup easily (unless you’re wearing something waterproof…in that case use a little coconut oil first, then wash with the bar.)
I was really worried this would dry me out, but my skin feels soft and balanced after washing.
The Balancing Facial Mask is fun to use…it goes on black and dries to a lighter charcoal color. With a clay base I was afraid it would be drying, but my skin feels amazing afterwards. Soft and balanced, and the pores on my nose visibly reduced.
I’ve been using the mask about once a week, but stepped it up to every other day when I got the breakouts. I’ve even left a little dab of it on overnight as a spot treatment.
Beautycounter is on a mission to get safer products in the hands of everyone. The FDA allows some pretty scary shit to be used in our personal care products. In fact, the US has not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care items since 1938. Love that Beautycounter is in Washington actually fighting for better regulations on personal care items.
I have recently been experimenting with some of their products and I’ve been really pleased. Their cosmetics look and feel like high end department store products, but without all the toxic ingredients.
In case you’re wondering, this does not in any way diminish my love for Annmarie Skincare and Telluride Glow…still using my faves from them on a daily basis. But just like I don’t buy all my clothes (or even all my groceries) at the same store, I don’t feel I need to get all my skincare and cosmetics in one place either.
So, can this Charcoal Cleansing Bar and Balancing Facial Mask help you feel happy, healthy and hot? Most definitely!
You’ll be happy using luxurious products that are made with only healthy ingredients. Using high quality skincare can contribute to clear, glowing skin…very hot!
