I had a great time on my trip to NYC last week.
Yes, my shoe broke. As in, my favorite Sam Edelman black wedges. The ones I wear every single day. Right on 7th Avenue.
Which meant I had to hobble back to the hotel and put on the only other shoes I packed, which were a little crazy,
so I could walk to the Gap to buy a pair of flip flops. But I still had a great time!
But enough about my shoes. This blog is all about feeling happy, healthy and hot, which means having fun while traveling without feeling like crap when you return.
So I’m going to tell you what I ate.
You know I love to start my day with coffee + collagen. And I think there’s something really cozy about going down to the hotel lobby for some fresh coffee and bringing it up the room.
So I packed Nut Pods for my coffee. Nut Pods are a non-dairy, unsweetened creamer made from almonds and coconuts. I love the creamy consistency. They come in a little tetra pack, so they travel well. I just pop mine in the mini fridge after I open it.
I also brought Vital Proteins Collagen Beauty Greens. Shoutout to Sue who has been drinking her beauty greens back in PA!
Since I was trying to travel light (ha!) I just put individual scoops of the Beauty Greens in snack size zip-loc bags, and mixed a scoop with water in the hotel room.
This way I’m getting my daily dose of collagen, plus organic raw greens, all before my day has really even started. And of course coffee.
My go-t0 breakfast when traveling is an omelet loaded with veggies, no cheese. I skip the obligatory potatoes and toast. Really, who needs that? Many times you can substitute tomato slices or fresh fruit.
Lunches in NYC are so easy…there are tons of great place for salads. Two of my favorite chains are GiGi Cafe and Pax Wholesome Foods. You pick the greens (usually spinach, spring mix or romaine) and then decide what you want to add.
I usually do a mix of fresh veggies, plus avocado for healthy fat and them some type of protein. I skip the dressing…who knows what crap is in there, plus the avocado acts like a dressing when they toss the salad up.
To feel my best, and still enjoy a delicious meal, I stick to the same formula for dinner…veggies, healthy fat and protein.
At Gallaghers, a wonderful steakhouse on West 52nd, I had an amazing filet, some of the biggest shrimp I have ever seen, and steamed broccoli. Oh, and some bone marrow. Because that’s not something you see every day.
There may have been some creme brulee involved. And possibly a glass of Pinot Noir. Ok, lets make that two glasses.
That is a way food than I normally eat (couldn’t finish the steak) and yes, there was some dairy involved. But it was memorable and amazing and completely worth it.
So, is it possible to stay happy, healthy and hot while eating your way through NYC? You’d better believe it!
Of course you’ll be happy eating amazing food (that you didn’t have to cook!) And you can make very healthy choices…don’t be afraid to speak up. All those veggies, healthy fats and protein are awesome for your skin and hair, and you’re making choices that help maintain a healthy weight. You will be very hot!
Thanks for reading. I’d love to hear how you are staying happy, healthy and hot while traveling this summer.

That sounds completely delicious! I love omelette, I often do it as a quick lunch with whatever leftover veggies from dinner. I also do the substitute veggies for toast, hash browns etc. It sounds like you had a great time, despite the shoes. You just need to buy some more!
