I’m retelling an old story, because I know someone needs to hear it right now.
It’s about bath towels…and so much more.
Over four years ago I filed for divorce. I moved into a rental townhouse bringing very little except my Vitamin and my favorite kitchen knife (not kidding!)
I gladly accepted hand me down towels and bedding from family members and some kitchen stuff from my grandmother’s house since she had just moved into a nursing home. All of which I was incredibly grateful for.
And that stuff got me by for a long time. Until one day, when it started to hold me back.
As I started pulling myself together, I realized that the frayed and mis-matched towels were reminding me of the frightened girl I had been, and not the confident woman I was becoming.
So I went to Target (my second home) and loaded up on a bunch of bright white towels. The old ones got donated to an animal shelter…love doing stuff like that!
Those white towels made me feel so much better. My new bright white matching towels were symbolic of a fresh start.
And then one night I stayed at a five star hotel. Very high vibe.
Suddenly the Target towels weren’t doing it for me anymore.
So I upgraded again. Just did a quick search for hotel quality towels. Boom…done!
Because why not feel like you’re at a five star hotel every damn day??
It’s not about the towels. It’s about how they make you feel.
I’m telling you this because I want to inspire you to look for an area of your life where you can make an upgrade.
It doesn’t have to be the towels. Maybe it’s those stretched out bras you’re handing on to. Or the pens that don’t write well.
Maybe you don’t need to even buy something new. Just clear out some stuff that is no longer serving you. It’s amazing how good this can feel.
And since every time I share this story someone always asks…I’ll drop a link for the towels.
