like shiny Hunter boots to brighten up a rainy day (love my grey ones…they go with anything.) Or some crazy peep-toe booties that make me feel a little badass.
And I also like to find the perfect pear.
One that is ripe and sweet but not mushy.
Right now pears are in season and I have been taking full advantage of this.
Pears contain vitamin C and copper, both important nutrients for your skin. And be sure to eat the pear’s skin…it contains about half of the pear’s fiber, as well as a much higher concentration of phytonutrients.
Speaking of the skin, while all pears are nutritious, the red skinned ones have anthocyanins not found in other pears.
It can be harder to find the perfect pear than the perfect pair! Most pears that you find at the store will be pretty hard and will need a few days to ripen. When they start to soften just a bit (and smell good) they are ready to eat.
Ripe pears are extremely perishable. One that is ripe in the morning may be too ripe by evening! You can avoid this by putting them in the fridge as soon as they ripen, but be sure to eat them in a few days. I have also noticed that they seem to ripen from the inside out.
I really love eating pears plain. When I eat fruit I include some protein and/or fat to balance the sugar. A pear and a small handful of nuts makes a great snack.
And speaking of a pear and nuts, I made a great salad the other day. I just took spring mix and topped it with some diced ripe pear, halved red grapes and chopped pecans. Drizzled a little balsamic vinegar and Kasandrinos Olive Oil on top. Done! So easy and so good.
Oh, and the timing is perfect…Kasandrinos has a great deal right now. Their large bottles of olive oil are all $19.99 right now, which is 20% off. There is also a buy three, get one free sale running. Great time to stock up for holiday gifts (or for yourself!)
So, can the perfect pear help you feel happy, healthy and hot? Of course it can! (And the perfect pair will make you feel happy and hot…just not so sure about the healthy part.)
You will be happy eating something so simple that is so delicious. The vitamin C supports your immune system, which keeps you healthy. And all that fiber is very satisfying, which helps maintain a healthy weight. The vitamin C and copper are also amazing for your skin, so with your glowing skin and shapely body you’ll be very hot!

Thanks Tanya! I just got the top at Hollister…inexpensive mall store but think it is just here in the US. And I love the shoes. They were an impulse purchase but I wear them a lot!
