I share so many tips on my Instagram account @happyhealthyandhot_elizabeth but at the end of the day, the women I engage with have more questions about losing weight than anything else. They are overwhelmed by the amount of information out there, much of it conflicting.
So I’ve broken it down for you. Here are my top 5 tips for losing weight in your 40s and 50s (although they’re really pretty universal!)
GET CLEAR
This isn’t just about how much weight you want to lose, but why you want to lose it. How will this make your life even better? Take some time to get really clear on how this will look and feel. What are you looking forward to…more energy? Fitting into your favorite jeans? Amazing body confidence? Doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it feels good to you.
CUT THE CRAPPY CARBS
Not all carbs. Just the crappy ones. Processed carbs n the form of chips, cookies, hamburger buns, etc. aren’t doing you any favors. But you already know that. Consider this a reminder.
PRIORITZE PROTEIN AND PRODUCE
This one tip alone can make all the difference. The majority of women I work with are not consuming adequate protein and never really feel satisfied with their meals. Make sure you are getting ample amounts of protein at every meal, surrounded by colorful produce.
KEEP TRACK
If you want to improve your finances, you keep an eye on your investments and other accounts. (Maybe even hire someone who knows more than you do.) It’s the same thing with your body…you need to pay attention. Everyone that I coach has benefited from keeping some type of food journal, especially in the beginning. It holds you accountable and also helps you notice patterns that you may desire to change. Weighing yourself on a regular basis (and writing it down) is important as well.
MOVE THAT GORGEOUS BODY
Stop obsessing over finding the perfect workout and just move your body! Whether you chose to use weights, go for a walk, swim laps or just dance around the kitchen you will boost your mood, energy and body confidence in addition to burning calories I also share live workouts on Instagram @happyhealthyandhot_elizabeth every Wednesday at noon. These take 15 minutes and are saved to my feed if you can’t join at that time.
Full disclosure- these tips are intentionally general. If you work with me one on one we will come up with a plan that is specific to your individual goals and lifestyle.
