I whipped this up after dinner one night when I wanted a little something…you know, something a little sweet. A little chocolatey.
It totally hit the spot and I’ve been making it ever since.
This little cacao drink tastes amazing and is made from ingredients with some legit benefits.
Cacao powder provides rich chocolate flavor as well as a hefty dose of magnesium and antioxidants. It may even help to reduce UV damage to our skin. Yes, please!
Maca is a powerful adaptogen that is packed with vitamins and minerals. It is believed to help boost mood, stamina, memory and even libido. Once again, yes please! It has a mild, almost caramel like taste that blends nicely with the cacao.
Vanilla collagen peptides enhance the flavor even further, as well as supporting firmer skin and stronger nails and hair.
I added a sprinkle of turmeric and cinnamon to spice it up a bit. You could even add some cayenne pepper if you’re feeling extra spicy! I use organic spices whenever possible. Thankfully they are really easy to find these days.
Cacao is on the bitter side, so I added a few drops of liquid vanilla stevia to sweeten things up a bit.
To make this drink extra creamy and satisfying feel free to add a splash of nut milk. I’ve been really into the cashew milk from Elmhurst lately. It has only two ingredients…cashews and water. Doesn’t get much cleaner than that!
hhh cacao drink
two teaspoons organic cacao
one teaspoon organic maca
one scoop vanilla collagen peptides
sprinkle of turmeric and cinnamon
liquid vanilla stevia to taste
hot water
optional splash of nut milk
This is too easy…put the dry ingredients in a mug and add hot water (I love my new electric tea kettle) and stevia. Use a frother to combine. Top with some nut milk if you like. Enjoy!!
