Tips for Drinking this Holiday Season
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and from that point until New Years’ more alcohol is consumed than any other time of year. So I’ve created some tips for drinking this holiday season.
I wanted to share some tips on how you can enjoy the festivities and still feel great the next day.
STAY HYDATED
Alcohol can be very drying which can be visible on your skin the next day. No one wants that! Drink a full glass of water before you consume alcohol and one more for each drink you consume. Think of it as a drinking game! like to drink sparkling water with lime because it feels more festive.
WATCH THE SUGAR
Sugary mixers and liqueurs can pack on the extra calories really quickly and contribute to the crash you feel the next day. Dry wines and simple drinks like vodka and club soda are going to be much lower in calories and less likely to give you that awful sugar crash headache the next day!
DETOX BEFORE BED
One of my favorite tricks (and I can’t believe more people aren’t aware of this) is to take activated charcoal capsules before bed anytime I’ve consumed alcohol. A good rule of thumb is one capsule per drink consumed. They help to absorb toxins so you wake up feeling amazing. (Please note you don’t want to take activated charcoal on a daily basis because it can also interfere with the absorption of some nutrients.)
