Five simple tips for better sleep
I woke up today feeling amazing…because I slept well last night. As a result, I’m more focused, energized and productive. And I’m in a great mood!
So I wanted to share these five simple tips for better sleep:
Put the damn phone down!
I’m talking about the mindless scrolling while sitting in bed…we’ve all been guilty at one time or another. But there are so many reasons NOT to do it.
First of all, it’s a time suck. One minute you’re laughing at a funny meme in your hair stylist’s InstaStory, the next thing you know it’s 45 minutes later.
Also, looking at all of that stuff right before bed is overstimulating to your brain. And of course, the blue light from devices like our phone, laptop and TV can interfere with sleep as well.
Watch your caffeine intake.
When we’re not sleeping well, it can be tempting to rely on caffeine to get us through the day. And then it backfires, and we can’t get to sleep at night.
Cutting back on caffeine (I didn’t say to eliminate it!) will pay off, although you may need to play around a little bit and see what works for you. For me personally, I don’t consume caffeine after noon, other than rare occasions where I know I’ll be up extra late.
I also drink Four Sigmatic coffee. This organic coffee with beneficial mushroom extracts contains less caffeine than most coffee. It also tastes amazing and the mushrooms (that you don’t taste) provide added benefits. My personal favorite is the “Think” blend that helps with concentration and focus.
Wear blue blocking glasses.
Blue blocking glasses can be a game changer in so many ways! The blue light from our devices interferes with the production of melatonin, which in turn affects our sleep cycle. Blocking that light beginning a few hours before bed can make a world of difference.
I also like to wear them anytime I’m going to be on my laptop for an extended period since they also help with eye strain. They also look super cute!
Try CBD oil
I have tried different natural products to help me sleep, but some of them left me feeling a little groggy the next morning. Not with CBD oil.
When I take CBD oil before bed I wake up feeling rested and refreshed. I take a dropper full under my tongue typically right before I get in bed. It doesn’t knock me out. It’s more of a nice, relaxed feeling that makes it easier to drift off to sleep.

This is the latest addition to my sleep arsenal, and I love it! There are so many free guided mediations on YouTube. Some are meant to be done to relax before you fall asleep, and some will continue to play all night long, with relaxing music and binaural beats to enhance your sleep. Play around and experiment to see what works for you!
