I was going to say “protect your energy.” We’ve all heard that one before.
But that wasn’t really getting the point across.
If you want to create a life that you are wildly obsessed with and head over heels in love with, you need to guard your energy fiercely.
So how can you do that?
I’m going to give you three simple tips.
1. Create a positive morning ritual
This will set a tone for your day.
Do what works for you to get you in a positive vibe…journaling, positive affirmations, prayer, gratitude, or meditation. Try one, several, or all of the above. Doesn’t matter if you have five minutes or forty-five minutes…do this BEFORE checking texts, email, news, or social media.
2. Set boundaries
Not everyone deserves access to your energy. And no one deserves access to it all the time. You do not need to pick up the phone or respond to the text immediately. Maybe you don’t need to do it at all. For people that truly drain your energy (you know who they are), do everything you can to limit exposure. And even for the people you love spending time with, be sure to take some time apart to fill yourself back up.
3. Limit your exposure to the media
I am not saying to put your head in the sand. But I am saying that having the news constantly blaring in the background of your life is not doing you any favors. You can be aware of what’s going on in the world without being connected 24/7. Instead of sitting and passively being told how terrible the world is, use that time to go out and do something positive.

Transformation Tuesday.
The pic on the left was taken in November of 2015, right around the time I was starting Happy Healthy and Hot. It’s a cute little headshot with clothing and jewelry that I thought was “appropriate.”
The shot on the right was taken a few weeks ago. What I’m wearing may be considered inappropriate by some, but that picture truly captures me.
I don’t even recognize the girl on the left.
I realize that physically there is not much difference (other than better brows and lashes in the second pic lol).
But inside…holy hell.
The picture on the left is of a frightened girl. I was 49 at the time, but still walking on eggshells around everyone. So worried about pleasing others that I didn’t even know what I wanted. I just knew that where I was, didn’t feel good. My boundaries were non-existent and my self-worth was completely dependent on what others thought of me.
It was taken just a few months before I filed for divorce, leaving behind a life that looked picture perfect on the outside – beautiful home, nice cars, attractive couple. Looks can be deceiving.
The one on the right is of a woman who is completely comfortable with herself and head over heels in love with the life she is creating. A woman who is just beginning to realize the power and influence she has. A woman who is on fire to share her gifts with the world, and perfectly ok with the knowledge that not everyone is going to agree with her or approve of what she has to say.
This transformation took some work. And it didn’t happen overnight.
I had to set boundaries. Raise my standards. Decide what I was available for. Step outside of my comfort zone. And then, repeat as necessary.

Ashley and I have grown and changed so much since that first photo shoot, and we realize we are both just scratching the surface.
Life no longer feels limited. It feels limitless.
It is never too late to completely transform your life…internally and externally.
If I did it, so can you.
And I can show you how. It starts with taking one step, and then another. You make some changes and upgrades in one area of your life, and it spills into another.
The changes may seem small at first. You might wonder how they’re going to add up. But you start to notice that your step is lighter. You’re smiling more. People are noticing a change.
And one day you look back…and you cannot believe how far you have come.
