Just in time for Valentine’s Day, I’m bringing back my happy healthy and hot version of the Starbucks pink drink, along with a fun new (slightly) naughty variation.
Everyone loves the pink drink…it’s the perfect combo of sweet and tart, and let’s face it…it’s pretty.
It’s also loaded with sugar. Which we should try to avoid.
There are soooooo many reasons to avoid sugar, but here’s one you might not be aware of…sugar causes wrinkles. That’s kind of all I need to know. If you want the science behind it, it’s a process called glycation.
Since I like the pink drink but I don’t like wrinkles, I took matters into my own hands and created my own happy healthy and hot version of the pink drink.
Not only is my version sugar free, it’s also keto friendly. Then, as the icing on the cake, I threw in some collagen peptides so it can actually make your skin better!
And if you want to make it a little naughty, add some vodka and BOOM…it’s a festive cocktail.
Here’s what you need:
Passion Tea from Tazo is what gives this drink gorgeous color and refreshing taste. The base of this tea is hibiscus, which happens to contain vitamin C which can brighten the skin and promote production of new collagen.
Collagen Peptides from Further Food are tasteless but add protein that supports firmer skin and stronger nails and hair. Even a better body. Um, yes please!
Vanilla liquid stevia from NuNaturals sweetens this drink naturally, and the vanilla flavor really rounds out the tartness of the tea.
French Vanilla (or Original) nutpods dairy free creamer turns the drink from red to pink, and the creaminess adds a nice contrast to the tartness of the tea.
Freeze dried strawberries are an optional garnish. They taste amazing and make the drink extra pretty.
And finally, if you want to feel a little naughty, add a shot of vodka. I use Tito’s.
Here’s the recipe:
happy healthy and hot pink drink (serves 2)
two Tazo Passion tea bags
two cups water
one scoop Further Food collagen peptides
NuNaturals Vanilla liquid stevia
two tablespoons French Vanilla nutpods
sliced freeze dried strawberries for garnish (optional)
two shots (1 1/2 ounce each) of vodka (optional)
Bring water to a boil, remove from heat and submerge the tea bags. Let steep at least ten minutes for full flavor to develop. After removing tea bags, but while tea is still warm, stir in the collagen peptides until dissolved. Sweeten with vanilla liquid stevia.
Let tea chill in fridge until ready to use.
Fill two glasses with ice and pour the chilled tea. Top with a few freeze dried strawberries and the nutpods creamer.
If adding vodka for the naughty version, add when you pour the tea over ice.
Cheers!
