I like fun, upbeat music that I can dance to. Right now I am obsessed with “Familiar” by Liam Payne and was totally dancing around the kitchen while throwing this smoothie together.
I’m also not into having heavy metal in my body. And that’s why I’m drinking this smoothie.
Why would I have heavy metals in my body? And how could a smoothie possibly help?
We all have traces of heavy metals, including mercury, lead, nickel and cadmium in our bodies. Sources include pesticides, amalgam fillings, and pollution.
Heavy metals can come from fun things too, like the cosmetics we use. (Lipstick is a big culprit.)
Even healthy habits, like drinking water and eating fish can lead to heavy metal accumulation in our bodies. This can cause damage at a cellular level, which in turn can develop into many health problems.
Don’t let this get you down…while heavy metals tend to accumulate and build up over time, there are easy things we can do to help our bodies get rid of them. And that’s where this smoothie comes in!
Cilantro is what gives this smoothie its gorgeous green color. But it does so much more than that. Cilantro is a natural chelator…it actually removes heavy metals from your body. Oh, and provides you with valuable antioxidants (which also help your body repair cellular damage), vitamins A, C and K, and the minerals potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron.
Pineapple adds a fresh tropical taste, as well as a boost of vitamin C and fiber. Vitamin C brightens the skin and supports the production of new collagen.
Coconut oil is a healthy source of fat that gives your skin a glow. Consuming fat also helps with the absorption of nutrients from fruits and veggies. I made this smoothie with ingredients that were already at room temperature and the coconut oil blended easily. If your ingredients are cold you might want to use liquid coconut oil or MCT oil.
Collagen peptides are so easy to blend into any drink, and add a nice boost of protein. Thesamino acids found in collagen peptides are awesome for firming skin and strengthening hair and nails.
Coconut water was my choice for the liquid, since it contributes to the tropical flavor. It is also a good source of potassium. Coconut water does contain some natural sugars. I look for brands that don’t have any added sugar.
This smoothie is actually an old recipe of mine that I updated a bit for my friend Danielle Johnson, known to her fans as The Happy Enthusiast. Follow her on Instagram @thehappyenthusiast for tons of inspiration and practical tips
Danielle’s fiancé recently tested positive for heavy metal toxicity and we were chatting about some solutions when I remembered this smoothie.
Here you go:
happy, healthy and hot cilantro pineapple smoothie
one cup fresh pineapple cut into chunks
handful of fresh cilantro
one teaspoon coconut oil or MCT oil
one scoop collagen peptides (I like Further Food brand…scroll down for a discount code)
one cup unsweetened coconut water or liquid of your choice…you can even use water
Dump everything in the blender and blend on high. It’s best to drink it immediately. If you store in fridge it might separate a bit but just stir it up.
So can this bright green smoothie help you feel happy, healthy and hot? Of course it can!
You’ll be happy drinking this delicious tropical drink made from so many healthy ingredients. Not only can it remove heavy metals from the body, it supports gorgeous, glowing skin and prettier hair and nails. So you’ll be hot for sure!
