Actually three. On my chin. One of them really hurts 😟
I’m not surprised. For me, they pop up every now and then if I have too much dairy. And I’ve been pretty lax in that department lately.
But I have a few tricks up my sleeve now that make them go away faster without drying me out.
Because no one wants pimples AND wrinkles. Am I right?
When I first noticed the breakouts on my chin, I took a minute to thank my body for reminding me that dairy isn’t good for me. Because if it’s making me break out, it’s probably causing some other problems too. Maybe this sounds a little woo-woo to you. But our bodies are always talking to us…we just need to listen.
Please note that I am not saying that dairy is bad for everyone. But other than some pastured butter, it doesn’t work for me.
What else did I do?
Well, the old Elizabeth would have attacked those pimples with a ton of crazy topical stuff, which always led to irritation, redness and flaking. Which doesn’t look or feel any better.
This time, I took a gentle but effective approach with my old friend activated charcoal.
I’ve written several posts about how amazing activated charcoal is for whitening your teeth.
Turns out it’s just as incredible for clearing up your skin.
I used the Charcoal Cleansing Bar and No. 3 Balancing Facial Mask from Beautycounter to speed up the healing process without drying out my skin.
The Charcoal Cleansing Bar is pretty much the coolest bar of soap I have ever seen. It is black, and makes a grey lather when you wash with it. I have not used a bar of soap on my face in years, but this is no ordinary bar of soap.
The charcoal in the soap helps to detoxify and absorb impurities from the skin, while the coconut oil makes it gentle and non drying.
The No. 3 Balancing Mask is the perfect complement to the soap. I had been using it about once a week just to keep my pores refined, but with breakouts I am using it every other day, with no drying it all. I even used it as a spot treatment overnight.
Some other tips when you’re experiencing breakouts:
Relax.
Getting all stressed out about it can actually make things worse. Instead, think about what your skin is trying to tell you.
Moisturize.
Sure, excess oil can contribute to breakouts, but trying to dry your skin out sends a signal to produce more oil. We’re aiming for a balance here.
Lemon water.
Lemon water is good for your skin in so many ways. The vitamin C helps to brighten your skin and supports the production of new collagen. Staying hydrated makes your skin look better. And lemon water is said to support your body’s natural detox system.
So there you have it! Next time you find yourself with an annoying breakout, just reach for the activated charcoal to speed up the healing.
Can the Charcoal Cleansing Bar and No. 3 Balancing Mask from Beautycounter help you feel happy, healthy and hot? You know it…especially combined with my other tips.
You be happy using effective, spa-like products that are truly healthy for your skin. And a happy girl with gorgeous skin is always hot!
