Three ways collagen peptides can give you a better body

I usually go for catchier titles for my posts.  Today I’m just being direct and to the point.  Because I think we all want our bodies to be the best they can be.

three ways

I’ve been raving about what collagen peptides do for your skin since I first started hhh.  They can also strengthen your hair and nails.  But today I’m going to tell you how amazing they are for your body.

Ready?

💗   Collagen peptides can help you lose weight.  That’s because collagen protein is more filling and satiating than other forms of protein like whey, casein or soy.  Studies have shown that after taking collagen peptides, people had reduced appetite and consumed fewer calories at their next meal.

💗   Collagen peptides can make your workouts even better.  There’s so much info about this that could easily be an entire blog post (and probably will be!)  In a nutshell, collagen is good for all of your connective tissues.  This means faster recovery from workouts and even from injuries.  It can help maintain muscle mass.  One thing I have noticed since I started using collagen peptides on a daily basis is that I very rarely get sore after a workout.

💗   Collagen peptides can reduce cellulite and stretch marks.  Regular intake of collagen has been shown to increase skin thickness and elasticity.  So not only does it make the skin on your face look younger and firmer, it can do the same thing all over your body.  As skin becomes thicker and more elastic, cellulite and stretch marks are diminished.

My favorite way to use collagen peptides is to blend them into my coffee every day. They mix easily into hot or cold liquids, so you can throw them into your smoothie, green drink or tea also.

My new favorite brand of collagen peptides is Further Food.  They offer regular bovine peptides, sourced from grass fed cattle, and I use two scoops every day.  In addition, they have marine collagen peptides that are sourced from wild cod.  I haven’t tried these yet but plan to.  Using the code HAPPYHEALTHYANDHOT will give you a 10% discount on your entire purchase, every time!

I find taking collagen peptides as part of my morning routine ensures that I get them every single day.  But there are other ways to get more collagen into your diet.

I love the Collagen Fuel and bars from Primal Kitchen Foods, both of which contain collagen peptides.  I always have a few of the bars in my purse, and the Collagen Fuel makes a delicious protein shake.

Bone broth is another way to get collagen into your diet.  You can totally make it yourself (takes a long time, but easy!) or buy a high quality pre made broth.  My favorite brand is Kettle & Fire.

So, can collagen peptides help you feel happy, healthy and hot?  Absolutely!

You’ll be happy that they are so easy to fit into your daily routine.  Adding collagen peptides is an easy and healthy way to get more protein into your diet.  It can firm up the skin on your face and all over your body, help you lose weight and improve your workouts.  With that beautiful skin and smokin’ body you’ll be hot for sure!

  1. Hi Elizabeth,
First, thanks for your efforts with this blog. I am a bit older than you, but I appreciate a blog written by a woman that is closer to my own age. I also appreciate that your blog posts do not feature paleo dessert after paleo dessert (because, what’s the point?)
I have a rather personal question, and I can’t recall you’ve ever mentioned it before. I have a terrible time with hot flashes still (7 years and counting; it sucks). Have you ever delved into the effects of primal and menopause symptoms? Are you lucky enough to have none? Or lucky enough to have put this off longer with your primal efforts? I notice that going pretty hardcore keto does seem to reduce, although not eliminate, the hotflashes. I don’t have the anxiety anymore, though.
I would love to read more about primal and menopause. There sure isn’t much out there and women my age, by and large, are not even blogging! Thanks!

  2. Primal Plum,
Thanks for the kind words! I always enjoy hearing from you, and completely agree on the whole paleo dessert thing. (Although I did just post those cashew butter chocolate chip cookies. Which are pretty amazing!)
In regards to your question, I just turned 51 and still have very regular periods. I have never had a hot flash, and it sounds like they completely suck! About 5 years ago, my menstrual cycle shortened considerably. When I started adding a raw carrot every day, it gradually (took a year) reverted to 28 days and that is pretty much where it is right now. I have not been super consistent with the carrots lately, but I’m still hanging in. I use maca from time to time but not on a regular basis.
I definitely think going keto can be helpful, at least in my personal experience. I consider myself “borderline keto.” I do not track anything, but eat pretty much high fat/moderate protein/low carb. But if I want carbs, I totally have them, just in the form of something like a sweet potato or the butternut squash soup I made today.
I look forward to Mark Sisson’s Keto book that is coming out soon, since I’m sure it will provide a balanced viewpoint.
Also wanted to say I really appreciate your support…I started this little blog for that very reason…there just wasn’t that much out there…at the time it seemed like everyone was either young and hard core cross fit, or a mommy blogger.
