Ass and abs recap
At the end of April, I had a mini panic when I realized how close we were to swimsuit season.
I spent the long, dreary Central PA winter covered up in thermals and leggings, and didn’t feel quite ready to bare it all.
So in a sudden burst of inspiration, I decided that May would be #assandabsmonth, which I very publicly declared on Instagram, promising to do something, no matter how small, every single day.
And I’m so glad I did!
Because I definitely noticed a difference after a month. Abs more so than ass if we’re completely honest here. And I loved the camaraderie of knowing that my friends were doing it along with me.
May is over, but summer is just beginning.
Here’s what I discovered during #assandabsmonth…let’s just extend this and make it #assandabssummer !
Little things add up when done consistently. Commit to doing something every single day. Some of my favorite moves are planks, bridges, and birddogs. Also love doing air squats every chance I get. (For more pics and some videos go check out my Instagram @resnickelizabeth)
Think you don’t have time? You do! I have done squats or crunches while waiting for my coffee to brew or brushing my teeth. A sonicare toothbrush runs for 2 minutes…see how many squats you can do!
You really don’t need any equipment, but I have to say I ❤️ my bosu ball! Not only does it make many moves more comfortable, the instability gives you a better workout. I’m always looking for a win-win! Here’s a funny bosu video…check out KO’s bad hair day and boredAF expression: Ass and abs month video
Build in some accountability. For me, reporting to the Instagram community was all the accountability I needed. If you don’t feel like putting yourself out there the way I do, ask a friend for some support. Maybe text each other updates every day.
Take the stairs! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Stairs are awesome for your ass. I’m running up and down the stairs constantly because I’m always forgetting something. But sometimes I make the stairs my workout…just set a timer, put on some fun music, and get going.
You can’t out-exercise a shitty diet. Remember, 80% of body composition is what you are putting into your body. Eat real food. I feel best following a primal/paleo template with lots of healthy fats and lower carbs. Figure out what works for you!
So there you have it! #assandabsmonth is over…we’re moving on to #assandabssummer! Not sure how many blog posts I’ll be doing about it, so be sure to follow along on Instagram @resnickelizabeth to stay in the loop.
Can #assandabssummer help you feel happy, healthy and hot? Hell yeah!
You’ll be happy because exercise improves your mood. We all know that moving our bodies keeps us healthy. And firm abs and a nice ass are very hot! Thanks for reading 🙂
