came out of nowhere. Kind of like the month of May itself.
Summer is coming. For some reason it didn’t really hit me until the very end of April. So on April 29, I decided that May would be ass and abs month.
I’m not into dieting or whipping myself into shape. Hopefully you’re not either. But we all want to look cute in our shorts and bikinis this summer!
That why I very publicly (on Instagram) declared May to be #assandabsmonth, and I’m so happy that some of my friends are joining me.
All it means is this…
commit to do something, no matter how small, every day for your butt and abs.
Because consistency matters.
Here are some ideas:
👙 Planks are awesome for your abs and entire body. I like to do mine on the bosu ball. The instability makes for a better workout and it’s more comfortable.
👙 Side planks work those oblique muscles. They are much harder for me than a regular plank, but they do the trick.
👙 Crunches are a classic. I also prefer doing those on the bosu or a regular exercise ball. Better range of motion and more comfortable.
👙 Bird dog is a great pilates move that works your entire core. Start on your hands and knees with neck in a neutral position (looking down). Slowly extend right leg back and left arm forward, hold for five seconds, and repeat on other side. Do five to ten reps at a time.
👙 Squats are the classic butt workout. You can do them with weights or without. This is another one I like to do on the bosu (without weights) to make it more challenging.
👙 Walking up and down the stairs is awesome for your glutes. I did a whole post on that: Want a better butt?
👙 A simple hip extension is great too. Get on all fours, with knees under hips and wrists under shoulders. Start by lifting left leg, knee still bent, pushing foot toward ceiling. Do 10 reps then switch to right leg.
There are so many great ideas out there. I’ve posted a few videos on Instagram (@resnickelizabeth) for inspiration, and I love that people are jumping on the bandwagon!

Can ass and abs month help you feel happy, healthy and hot? Of course it can!
You’ll be happy that you can fit these moves in with just a few minutes each day. Moving your body is key to staying healthy. And with your ass and abs more toned, you’ll be hot for sure!
