I decided to write a chocolate post. Since Valentine’s Day and chocolate seem to go hand in hand.
But really, why wait for Valentine’s Day? Chocolate should be enjoyed whenever you want. Here are some ways to enjoy chocolate and still feel happy, healthy and hot.
Sometimes I like a little taste of chocolate first thing in the am, with my coffee (my new fave brand is Javazen.) I put a big mug of coffee in the blender, and add a tablespoon of coconut oil, a scoop of collagen peptides, a teaspoon of raw cacao powder (cocoa powder works too!) and some stevia to taste. Blend this on high, and you have a delicious mocha that is doing amazing things for your skin, hair and nails.
The coffee itself is a good source of antioxidants. Coconut oil adds healthy fats to keep your metabolism going and give you glowing skin and shiny hair. The collagen peptides are my favorite beauty secret…if you want firm skin and healthy hair and nails they are a must! And raw cacao, or even unsweetened cocoa powder, is a great source of magnesium and antioxidants. There is even evidence that cacao helps with protection from sun damage. Oh, and it increases serotonin levels in the brain. You can’t lose!
Another healthy way to indulge in some chocolate is with Primal Kitchen bars. The Dark Chocolate Almond and the Chocolate Hazelnut totally satisfy my chocolate and sweets cravings, but they contain only 3 grams of sugar and have 15 grams of protein. Even better, some of that protein comes from collagen.
If you are craving a gooey chocolate brownie, here’s a recipe that really surprised me…I made grain free, dairy free brownies out of black beans. No one could guess the secret ingredient, and they were amazing. Think I have to make them again this week! Here’s the link:
You’ll never guess what I made…
And for more about the benefits of eating chocolate, check out this post…it’s always been one of my faves:
Like Justin Bieber and Jason Derulo…
So, can eating chocolate help you feel happy, healthy and hot? Sure it can, if you do it right!
It goes without saying you’ll feel happy eating chocolate. All of the suggestions I give in the post are loaded with healthy ingredients. And with all that collagen, coconut oil and cacao you will have gorgeous, glowing skin…so hot!

Mmmmm … chocolate. I typically eat two pieces of the Endangered Species 88% cocoa each day, happens to be a brand that is convenient for me to buy. I alternate the Primal bars (best profile of any protein bar out there) with a new protein bar I found, Garden of Life Sport Performance Chocolate Fudge. They have a good chocolate fudge taste IMO, a little high in carbs though. Beans as part of a brownie mix, interesting Elizabeth. Do you have a good Alice B. Toklas style brownie recipe LOL?

Lol George…no hash brownies baking in my kitchen! The black bean ones sounded crazy but turned out great. And thanks for the tip on the Garden of Life bars…I will check them out. They put out some high quality products but I’ve never tried their bars. Really love the Primal bars. Especially the macadamia sea salt. Did you take advantage of the free box of dark chocolate almond?
