to celebrate.
So now you’re probably wondering what COCO cocktail is. And what I could possibly be celebrating on November 2.
I’m celebrating the first anniversary of happy, healthy and hot. And COCO Cocktail is the world’s first alcoholic beverage with vitamins and minerals. It is made with 70% coconut water and is a good source of vitamins A, C, D, E, B1 and B6. COCO Cocktail is also non GMO, gluten free, and certified Paleo Friendly. It contains 5.6% alcohol by volume.
COCO Cocktail takes me back to the late ’80s. In a good way. It is vaguely reminiscent of the wine coolers that were popular back in the day. But the flavor is much more sophisticated, and not nearly as sweet. (And thankfully I no longer have the spiral perm, sky high bangs and huge shoulder pads!)
The flavor that I sampled is called #REFRESH. It is lightly carbonated, and has a tart and citrusy bite that I love, flavored with lemon and key lime extracts.
The second time I sampled it was with the Fried Chicken Meatballs from Well Fed Weeknights….perfect flavor combo. I made the meatballs pretty spicy, and loved the refreshment of the citrus flavor.
COCO Cocktail will be releasing two new flavors this spring, Pomegranate + Blueberry and Tangerine + OJ, both of which sound pretty amazing.
So here’s my only complaint about COCO Cocktail...it’s pretty hard to get your hands on right now. If you are lucky enough to live near a Whole Foods in Florida, you’ve got it made. Or ABC Liquor (also in Florida.) And later this month they will be carried in Whole Foods in Ohio and Indiana.
If you live anywhere else (like Central PA😧) your best bet right now is to like them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram @cocococktail to stay in the loop.
And just so we’re clear…I’m not telling you to go out and drink. But if you like to imbibe from time to time, COCO Cocktail doesn’t just taste great, it actually offers some benefits.
Oh, and about that anniversary. One year ago today, I hit “publish” on my first happy, healthy and hot post. About three people read it. Including me.
This is post 173. Which must mean that I’ve written a book by now. If you are new to happy, healthy and hot, here are some of the most popular posts:

Happy anniversary! That looks really refreshing. I’m laughing at spiral perm and shoulder pads – my hair is curly and late 80s, I was always getting stopped and asked about my hair.
Elizabeth Resnick says
Thanks Tanya! And it really is refreshing! Love naturally curly hair…it took a whole lot of chemicals to make my stick straight hair curly!

Elizabeth, wholehearted congrats on reaching 1 year with your blog. That is an incredible milestone. I just came across your blog recently by reading a comment you made elsewhere.
I am thinking my wife would love to try the COCO cocktail. She typically enjoys a glass of red wine but at times gets some faint headaches from the sulfites and added sugars. COCO cocktail sounds like a cleaner adult beverage option for her. I am up in PA, though, so hopefully it can make it’s way here someday for her to try.
Congrats again on the anniversary. It is inspiring to see people stick with and accomplish big things.

Thanks for the kind words Michael! I’m totally with your wife on the red wine thing. I really enjoy it, but every now and then I wake up with some puffiness around my eyes and I’m sure it’s the sulfites. There are some cleaner wine companies out there…one I have been hearing a lot about is Dry Farm wines that is available by subscription. Hopefully COCO Cocktail will make it up to PA sooner rather than later!

Congrats, Elizabeth! And thanks for the recommendations, both for the cocktail and for the recipe from WellFed Weeknights (which I also received this week). I’ll try that meatball next. I already cooked the Chinese BBQ Pork meatballs, which are also awesome!
And I’ll try the #Refresh when we get it here in CA. I’ll start asking now. Maybe, being another “warm” state like FL, we’ll get them here first too. It would be nice to have a paleo friendly alcoholic beverage to take on the go–on the boat, in an RV, or even just hanging in the backyard.
I’ve found so many great products via you, for sure! I look forward to your blog for the coming year too.

Thanks Primal Plum! And now I’m going to have to try those Chinese BBQ meatballs. So far I have not been disappointed by anything from WellFed Weeknights, and Mel is so cool. I have a feeling COCO Cocktail will make it to CA before PA…we are always a little behind 😦
