because no one really likes to talk about odor. Or underarms.
Let’s be real… coffee and skincare are much more fun to talk about. Also pleather, cute musicians, mascara. The list goes on and on.
Back in November, I wrote a post called The deodorant dilemma. I think three people read it. Check it out if you want to see an old and blurry pic of me riding a mechanical bull on the beach.
Now that happy, healthy and hot is getting a lot more traffic, it’s time to revisit the subject.
So here’s the dilemma in a nutshell…I’m careful about what I put into my body, and I try to be just as careful with what I put on my body.
But I wasn’t having much luck with deodorant. The natural ones either didn’t work, or irritated my skin with too much baking soda. And the conventional ones are loaded with some pretty nasty stuff. Like aluminum, sodium lauryl sulphate, propylene glycol, etc. Yuck!
In that old post, I mentioned one brand, Lavanilla, that was working without being irritating. And I’m happy to report that I’ve found another natural deodorant that works!
Evolution of Natural is a family business based in California. They use wonderful ingredients, and it is packaged in a traditional solid stick. (There are a number of natural deodorants that come in a small jar or tin and you apply with your finger. Not everyone likes being that intimate with their underarms.)
I have been using the unscented formula. The ingredients are organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, jojoba oil, vitamin E, arrowroot powder, candelilla wax, baking soda, hops, and tea tree oil. If you’re not familiar with candelilla wax (I wasn’t) it is a plant wax that is a great substitute for beeswax in products that have to stay somewhat solid, like lip balms and deodorants.
EON also makes scented formulas that have the same ingredients, with the additon of some essential oils to supply the fragrance. The available scents are Lavender, Juniper + Pine, Bergamot + Lime and Cedarwood + Patchouli + Bergamot.
A few things you should know…the unscented definitely smells of tea tree oil, which I am totally fine with. The smell does not linger. With coconut oil as the first ingredient, the stick will be softer in warm weather than cold weather and it may smear a bit on the lid. I’m totally willing to live with this since I am so happy with the ingredients.
Also, as I mentioned in my other deodorant post, this is not an antiperspirant. It is meant to keep you from stinking, not from sweating.
We need to sweat. It is one way our bodies release toxins. That being said, the arrowroot powder may help you feel drier than some other natural deodorants.
Something else I love about this product is the price. It’s only $7.00 a stick. I realize that’s more than you will pay for a conventional deodorant or antiperspirant, but you are getting a product made from the highest quality ingredients.
Right now EON is offering free shipping on all orders. Not sure how long this will last, so don’t wait! I plan to try a few of the scented formulas as well.
So of course you want to know…can switching to a natural deodorant like EON help you feel happy, healthy and hot? You know it!
Of course you’ll be happy finding a product that works! And I’m always happy supporting small businesses that are trying to make a difference in the world. As far as healthy, this product is free of any controversial ingredients that could affect your health in a negative way. And smelling fresh all day is definitely a requirement for being hot!

This is something I need to look into. I used a crystal deodorant when I was pregnant but ended up with a fungal infection – yuck! It kind of put me off.. but I would like to use something less chemical on my skin.

Ugh! A fungal infection sounds awful Tanya!! I didn’t do well with the crystal either…tried that years ago. I’ve tried making my own and I’ve tried so many different brands. This one works for me and is really reasonable. Let me know if you find something you like!
