"Like a Virgin"…

is one of my all-time favorite Madonna songs.  Especially her performance at the 1984 MTV VMAs with the wedding dress and boy-toy belt. I liked the early 80’s, dark roots, black plastic bracelet Madonna.
As I discussed in a previous post (Has your olive oil lost its virginity?) most extra virgin olive oil is not as pure as it claims to be.  Just like Madonna in the above-mentioned song.
Recently I’ve started using some olive oil that is not only pure, but tastes totally amazing.


Kasandrinos Olive Oil comes from South Eastern Greece, and is certified organic.  The olives are pressed within 24 hours of being picked.  They only sell the harvest from the current year, assuring that their oil is fresher than what you are buying on store shelves.
Not only do I love the quality and taste of this olive oil, I love buying from family owned companies.  Kasandrinos Olive Oil is owned and run by a brother and sister team, Tony and Effi Kasandrinos.  They import the same olive oil that they grew up on, which comes from their father’s village in Greece.
Don’t waste your time cooking with this stuff…save it to drizzle over a salad, or over roasted veggies after they come out of the oven.  Or maybe on fresh ripe tomatoes, with a sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt.  Kasandrinos has a distinctive, peppery taste that gives depth to anything you use it on.

True EVOO doesn’t just taste great, it has legitimate health benefits.  It is loaded with antioxidants, including phenolic compounds which have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer.  Good olive oil creates a slight tingling sensation in the mouth, which comes from oleocanthal, a potent anti-inflammatory.  It is also rich in monounsaturated fats, vitamin E and vitamin K.  Healthy fats like olive oil are wonderful for your skin, and by increasing satiety can help curb appetite which helps control weight.
In my previous olive oil post, I mentioned some brands that are readily available that are also pure EVOO.  These include California Olive Ranch, Kirkland Toscano, Kirkland Organic and Whole Foods Organic 365.  I was buying California Olive Ranch at Target, and will continue to use it from time to time for cooking.  But when I want the amazing flavor to shine through, I’m going to stick with Kasandrinos Olive Oil.  It’s that good!
So, can Kasandrinos Olive Oil help you stay happy, healthy and hot?  Absolutely!  The delicious olive flavor will make you happy!  As far as healthy, there are literally thousands of studies showing the health benefits of EVOO.  And since it supports healthy skin and hair, and even weight control, you’ll be very hot indeed!
