I’m not kidding! There are some days when I practically live out of my car, and I know I’m not alone. Why not make your car time happy, healthy and hot? The tips I’m sharing today are really intended for your daily running around, but they are great for travel too.
As far as happy, you know music makes me happy! Right now I am loving “Pillowtalk” by Zayn. Seriously, how hot is that song??!! Listen to the lyrics…I can’t get enough! Also “Youth” by Troye Sivan. And “Cake by the Ocean” by DNCE. Lots of fun new music out right now.
But if I’m on a longer car ride, sometimes I mix it up and listen to podcasts. Usually something health related or motivational. And I try to always keep a book in the car, in case I am stuck waiting. Sure, you could check FB for the millionth time, but it’s a great way to sneak in some reading. I have gotten through entire books this way. Check out my amazon store for some great health related titles and make good use of the time you spend waiting in your car:
As far as health, in one of my earliest posts, I talked about lemon water. (Read it here: Why I start my day with lemon water.) When I make my lemon water at the crack of dawn, I also fill a travel cup, using the other lemon half, and then immediately put it in my car. Otherwise I’ll forget. Then instead of stopping for a drink while I’m out running around, I can get a great boost of vitamin C and flavonoids. It’s not just keeping me hydrated, it’s supporting my body in so many ways. (Collagen production, skin brightening, immune boosting…the list goes on and on!) Plus I’m really fussy about my car…coffee and tea make a mess if they spill on my cream beige interior. Lemon water is no big deal!
In a perfect world, none of us would ever eat in the car. We would sit down at the table and relax while enjoying a meal made from local, organic foods. But let’s get real…that’s just not always happening. I try to keep a healthy snack in my purse or glove compartment at all times. I usually go with raw nuts…healthy fats and protein, and no mess! Then if I am starving, I have something to tide me over till I can eat a real meal. There are some decent bars out there too, just watch the sugar content!
Another tip…keep some good hand lotion in your car. In the winter, this is an absolute must for me! This is what I’ve had in my car this past winter…it smells amazing and really works. (Thank you Jill!) And if your hair is dry on the ends, put a tiny bit of this in the palm of your hands, rub them together and lightly run through just the ends of your hair. Gets rid of the frizz and static!
And girls, please wear your sunglasses! I resisted this for years, but I’m finally on the bandwagon. Prevent those fine lines around your eyes…stop squinting!
I’d love to hear from you…what do you keep in your car to help you stay happy, healthy and hot?

sounds weird probably, but I keep a tooth brush and floss in my car. A bit obsessed! I always have lotion and hand cleaner, plus a little journal to jot down ideas.

Not weird at all, Keri! I have those mini disposable toothbrushes in my purse (called wisp). The journal is a great idea…I use the notes on my phone.
