I love collagen. I use it every single day. I travel with it. I can’t live without it!
So what’s so great about collagen? I have been using it for well over a year, and can honestly say there is a noticeable difference in my skin and nails. My facial skin feels firmer, and even thicker than it used to. I have always had nice nails, but they are thicker, stronger and grow faster. I have noticed some changes in my hair as well (although there’s still a lot of room for improvement!) Collagen is also said to help with digestion and can be very helpful for joint and bone health.
Collagen is literally what holds our bodies together. As we age, the amount of collagen in our bodies tends to decrease. I don’t believe in taking a ton of supplements, but when something produces such visible results I stick with it.
Collagen is similar to gelatin, but it doesn’t gel. So it is easy to blend into beverages. It’s in my matcha latte recipe, and I’ll share how I blend it into my morning coffee in my next post. It’s great in smoothies as well.
It’s very important to use a high quality collagen product, produced from cows that are grass-fed. There are two brands that are pretty popular: Vital Proteins and Great Lakes. I have seen big debates about which one is superior. I use both interchangeably and get the same results. I will tell you, however, I find the packaging of the Vital Proteins brand to be more convenient. Vital Proteins also gives documentation that the cows are raised on pasture.
To make things easy for you, I have both of these products in my amazon store (on the Things I love page).
I’d love to hear what you think…have you tried collagen? Are you planning to try it? To comment, click on the link at the top of the post.
