has some pretty amazing health benefits.
The taste is strong, but after tweaking it a number of times I’m starting to like it.
I blended fresh turmeric, ginger and lemon in my Vitamix. Definitely has a kick, but I know it’s doing some amazing things for my skin and health in general. And now that I’m making it more often I’m really starting to like it.
Here’s what I used:
Fresh turmeric has a very distinctive taste. Turmeric is an incredibly powerful anti-inflammatory. It is being studied for treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s and cancer. Currently there are over 10,000 peer reviewed articles proving the benefits of turmeric and curcumin, one of the active compounds found in turmeric.
Fresh ginger is also a great anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, and it’s spicy taste pairs well with the turmeric. Ginger’s antioxidant properties make it great for your skin…whenever you hear antioxidant, just think “anti-aging!”
Fresh lemon is one of my all time faves. I love to drink lemon water, but think there is something even more beneficial about consuming the whole fruit. The vitamin C in fresh lemons not only helps to brighten the skin, it also supports the production of new collagen.
I threw in a little bit of black pepper as well. Black pepper is often combined with turmeric in Indian cooking, and has been proven to make the compounds in the turmeric more bioavailable. Also, spicy foods like the pepper, turmeric and ginger may increase metabolism a bit.
Adding a tiny bit of coconut oil will help to make the beneficial compounds even more bioavailable. I usually skip this step since I’m typically drinking this in the morning with my coffee that is already blended with coconut oil.
This drink has a major spicy kick. I needed to sweeten it just a bit to take the edge off. I used two packets of a stevia/monk fruit blend.

You will definitely need a high powered blender to make this drink. My Vitamix was an investment but I’ve had it over ten years and still totally love it. I like to set everything up the night before and just add the water and blend in the am. Here’s what I did:
happy, healthy and hot spicy turmeric/ginger drink
one or two pieces of fresh turmeric (I left the peel on)
one inch chunk of fresh ginger (left the peel on this too!)
one whole lemon, bitter yellow peel removed, cut into chunks
sprinkle of black pepper
one quart water
one teaspoon liquid coconut or MCT oil (optional)
Throw everything in the blender and blend on high for at least 30 seconds until well combined. This makes quite a bit. I have a glass in the morning and then sip throughout the day.
Can this crazy concoction help you feel happy, healthy and hot? Oh yeah!
You’ll be happy drinking a spicy drink made from fresh and healthy ingredients. And the glowing skin and fit body (from the boosted metabolism) are very hot!
