The last time I wandered into Sephora…

I noticed that charcoal was all the rage.

As soon as I walked in the door, I couldn’t miss a giant display of products containing activated charcoal.  And there’s a reason it’s so hot right now.

Charcoal draws impurities from our skin like a magnet.  The same way Sephora draws me in like a magnet.  Even if I don’t need anything.  Hey, I’m doing research, right?

But just because a product contains the latest hot ingredient doesn’t mean it is particularly effective.  Or safe.
So I turned to 100% Pure.  Because I already know their products are effective.  And safe.
I ordered the Konjac Charcoal Sponge.  It is a natural sponge from the konjac plant, combined with bamboo charcoal, which draws dirt and makeup from the skin.  The sponge is used wet, with or without cleanser, to gently exfoliate.

I have been using it on my face in the shower several mornings a week, without cleanser and I love it.  My skin feels soft and clean, and soaks up whatever I put on next (typically the Annmarie Gianni Anti Aging Serum and/or Alpine Pure Oil from Telluride Glow.)
If you used any of those crazy exfoliators back in the 80s, like the Buf-puf or that St. Ives Apricot Scrub that came in the tube, let me assure you that this is completely different. Those products were downright abrasive.  This is not.
The sponge comes with a little loop so you can hang it in the shower.  It lasts about 2-3 months and then needs to be replaced.

Just so we’re clear, this cute little sponge does not in any way diminish my love for the Aloe Herb Cleanser from Annmarie Gianni.  The products actually complement each other very well.
I like to alternate, using the charcoal sponge one day and the Aloe Herb Cleanser the next.  And yeah, there are lazy days where I  just take a warm washcloth to my face and that’s it.
